Zimbabwe bus terminal, Newtown, Johannesburg. The common arrival point for these neighbours who come to our city with their hopes high and their eyes wide. They step out onto our streets already searching for some evidence that they will find a job to support families left behind in the country that will always be home. Greeted by the colour, pace, energy and promise of the Capital of Africa, they are not disappointed. “Gold rush” captures the moment when one migrant worker steps out into the light and is confronted by possibility.
